Howdy Folks,
I have a 1974 Bomber Bassmaster with a Mecury 65 hp ser# 3665016.
From What I have found this serial number wasnt made in 74. So what year is this motor?
Also,
is it worth fixing(can I get parts?)? It runs but the foot is empty(leaked out) and hasn't run right in years. But it will start just bogs when you try to get going to WOT. Water pump works but it did have trouble going into gear back in April when I tried to run it. The motor seemed to be stuck and wouldn't go all the way down(no power tilt). When it finally sank down It got both gears.
Also a few years ago the fool at the marina was working on it and broke the shifter. He said he made a new one. It went into gear for another few years but if it breaks is it over?
I only paid $400 bucks for the boat and it ran great for 5 years. All I ever did was try to replace the prop seals(it still leaks) and put a new throttle and steering cable. is it worth resuurecting or should I let it go for whatever it will bring. Oh yeah I'm in a transitional financial period and have little funds to spare. So its this fishing boat or no fishing boat.
