I did not know there was forum just for Starcraft, so this is the second time I have asked this question was reffered her from the everything posts. I got this boat off C-list the other week, the guy told me it was a 74 but after learning more about Starcraft I believe it to be earlier like early 60's.
I know the engine is 1970, and after some work have got it back on line, also it has Selectric shift, It works I love it.

Welcome Mr.Smevil from NC. Yep, you found the best place and the best folks to help you with your great little boat. Kick your shoes off and prepare to be amazed as you look around these threads.

Nice find. Should give ya lots of good memories. I'm with you. Looks older to my inexperienced eyes. Won't be long before the real experienced chime in and get ya squared away. :)

What length is it? Also, is there a HIN number or serial number on it anywhere?

Ya it says 14 holiday on the dash, will get some better pictures, after looking her over will most likely go for the full referb, Did some test runs last sat. just to find the balance and where to place batt. gas and extras, really loved some of the work everybody is doing to there boats. To the chief I removed the floor last week and all that giant ball styrofoam that weighed a ton so will look closer at the hull for a stamp and around the placard by the throttle. I got this picture of the placard but cant see much.

Have you actually measure the length? There was a 14' Holiday, but your boat looks a bit older to me. The hull number might be on the top of that plate, I really can't tell from the pic. Also, it often was on the transom as well... the first 2 fidgets normally were the year. Nice boat and welcome to the madness!!

SM - What are the first two digits in the serial number on the plate? ^^^^^

EDIT - Sorry 73Chief. Not copying you, hit reply and SWMBO called before I finished. My 66 starts with 66 space as you said.

I was able to find a data tag on the transom STR42795M74D, this tag is held on with drywall screws, but it is stamped in fancy gothic lettering so I would bet it was correct, I would guess from this it would be a 1974. Which is crazy because the windshield to me indicates early 60's, I am pretty observant and i dont see any extra holes in that area indicating the windshield was changed from a 74 model. That would have made it a squared up windshield and I just dont see it. SME

Smevil--

that's not a 60s Starcraft hull ID #. and as far as i know, Starcraft was never much into gothic lettering.

from the windshield, your boat was obviously built before the fed govt started requiring hull ID # (HIN) in 1972. before that, all they had was the factory serial #, which would be in a format like this: 65 E 6009. what has happened in many states is that they require, for boats too old to have HIN from manufacturer, that a however-many-digit HIN (federally specified format and # of digits) be issued by the state and affixed to the boat therever after. my guess is that's what you are seeing, further reinforced by the obviously-attempting to look-permanent job someone did in having the plate made. i don't think the digits 74 in that HIN mean anything like 1974 build date. somewhere there should be a guide to what all the letters/digits stand for.

from the Wiki entry on HIN:
For civilian craft manufactured in the United States, the hull number is given to the vessel when it is built and forms part of the hull identification number, which uniquely identifies the vessel and must be permanently affixed to the hull in at least two places. A Hull Identification Number (HIN) is a unique set of 12 characters, similar to the Vehicle Identification Number which is found on automobiles. The HIN may be found on the aft of the vessel in the uppermost right corner. Also, the HIN may be stated on the title, registration, and insurance documents.
