I have what i thought was a 60 rude but i know think is a 50,the model# is 503778r.im wondering if on this engine is it possible to change the pitoes and rings without splitting the block? the pistons are melted a little so it needs oversiked pistons and everything else that goes along with that job,first i must get them out?thanks fo your time dave.

503778 does not convert, are you sure of the model number.
You will have to remove the power head and split it to replace the pistons.

Are you sure its not 50373R? (1973 50HP)......50378R does not compute.

Yes it is a 73 50h.p. I also own a 71 40h.p. and it is a points ign. this is a powerpack< the 50h.p.> i think mabe the 50 is a latter year ,it is a 2 cyc. twin carb. with power pack ign., the bottom end seems to be a darker blue.
