So did you miss the entire context of my statement then.....? And only focus on that one element? Regardless of how you feel about the VRO. Do you understand what I was saying about inherent problems. Man this place has changed back about 8 years ago when I did my starcraft restoration it was full of helpful polte people. Im done with this post I asked a simple question about the rough year of that motor and if anyone had any knowledge on inherent issues with these motors. To the people who answered them, thank you very much for taking the time and sharing your knowledge it was greatly appreciated. To the keyboard warriors..... have a nice day.

The first 140 Evinrudes appeared in the 1977 model year. They were upped 5 hp from the 135 "bubble back" V-4's in 1976. The second iteration, the big block, loop charged V-4's appeared in 1988. They share no commonality with the 99 cu. in cross charged engines from the 1970's.

Be sure you are refering to the propoer platform.

The 120 and 140 loopers were introduced in 1985, These were 110 cubic inch blocks. In 1988 they were increased to 122 cubic inches, or 2 liters.
