whats going no with my motor?

Seem's to run fine some times, then just looses power. Im running a 115 spl Evinrude the motor tag said's that its a 1997 model conformed to a 1998. all i see on tag is model E115tslecm The serial# is GO4414067 The motor has been running 5000 rpm then jumped to 6800. Kind of scarry! then went back to running 5000 rpm Can't find out why!

ment to tell motor lossed power before going to 6800 rpm's

maybe the hub is starting to slip, pull the prop and put a mark with a permanent marker and run it again, if the mark no longer lines up the hub is spun.
