Im not sure whats up but every time i go into different parts of iboat message boards im getting advertisements with girls coming up. Some of these advertisements are showing more skin than some men's magazines i see on store shelves. Has my computer been infected with something that takes over iboat adds or is it new iboat format.

I bet it is "residual" in your PC. I am not so fortunate to see any pretty girls.

Re: Whats going on with iboats

Sounds like you are being redirected/hijacked. Does this happen when you search on yahoo/google as well?

Anyway:
(0) Clean your computer (ccleaner).
(1) Virus scan. (AVG is a good free one).
(2) Malware scans. Spybot-SD and Adaware are good free ones.
(3) Root kit scan. sysinternals.com -> redirect to microsoft. In one of the subdirectories is rootkit detector.

If you still are having issues: go to "www.spywarewarrior.com". Download hijackthis, run a scan - post the results to the forums. They do for computer malware what the repair forums do here -there are experts that will help you out.

Oh, and be caqreful with using the computer until you are sure it is fixed. You don't want anyone to steal your bank passwords, etc.

Re: Whats going on with iboats

I use AVG myself. I used a trial version of another virus scan and it came up saying that I had contagious file, (this was a while back) then I put AVG on my computer and it hasn't found anything. But I do recall a screen popping up a couple of different times saying that virus was cleared or something to that affect, but that was way after the demo diagnoses. I have been having some weird stuff going on with my computer also. I go to open a certain website that has nothing to do with my e-mail and it will open half the website that I intended on opening then the other half is to do with my e-mail very strange.

Another time I went to open up a website and it had opened up what my mother was viewing on her computer at the time because we are setup on a network. Very strange stuff, it just started doing this. Then I still have the problem with it coming up page cannot be displayed when trying to open certain websites.

You don't have your computer setup on a network by chance do ya puddle jumper. Maybe it is doing what mine is doing with the half and half website deal. That's all I can say. Do you have your pop up blocker on?

Re: Whats going on with iboats

All the iboat ads seem to be pretty mundane and boat related..If your getting other advertising your infected or spammed. I see they finally made the Allstate dropdown ad smaller..what a PIA that is. Get AVG and Ad-ware both work very well and are free.

I would say you have picked up a virus.
You need a virus scan of your system.
I use avast.

Get rid of the Google tool bar or the like too. First of all, open IE, click Tools-Internet Options- Delete cookies- Delete files- Clear history. Go to Control Panel- Add or Remove Programs and remove everything that is not essential to your internet browsing such as weather bug, emoticon, screen saver, etc.. Chances are that you have Google tool bar and that program add a lots of junk to your system. If you're badly infected, you might have to repair the computer registry. Bad bug resides in the registry and this is not an easy fix. If you don't know what you're doing you will corrupt the system and Window won't work properly. If you don't want to pay for the auto Scan and Repair service and have a copy of whatever OS on your puter? The best thing to do is format the hard drive to wipe it clean and reinstall the OS. I delete cookies, temporary internet files and browsing history EVERYDAY!
