Hi Mo-tick, Up here in Vermont that motor would sell for 250.00 in about an hour. Great fishing motor.

Re: Whats it worth?

Mo, be careful, if that motor's sat around for that long and is a nearly untouched as it is, everything on it, including waterpump, is probably original. Meaning the impeller will or already has broke a vane or two and it'll get a little toasty. Show us a pic!

And you'll probably get a bit more than 250 if it lives up to the low running time you're saying. I give 450 for a used but decent '85 8hp Seahorse.

Wow. The paint on the recirc hose doesn't even appear to be cracked.
That's a '72. Johnson model numbers made sense for about 10 years:
6 - 6hp
R - Rope start
72 - 1972
D (that's actually probably a D) - Model run code, not important at all.

Yep that's a nice one. What owns me, and makes it obvious as to how little it's been even started is the pretty white rope and perfect plastic starter pinion. I'd hang onto it unless you really needed the money. It's by no means a rare motor, but it's mint. Keep in mind what the equivalent NEW motor sells for.

LOL I have that exact same motor, but mine looks nothing like that. Infact the previous owner of mine put a piece of broom handle on the end of the pull cord to replace the handle.

nice looking motor

That motor would bring an easy $500 here in Florida.
