I have a 1990 Maxum 1600 with a force 50, what speed could I expect riding with about 350lbs of people weight?

Re: Whats my top speed?

You need to provide more specific infor before anyone can answer that. What motor/outdrive do you have and what is the horse power? What is the pitch of the propeller?

I can't answer the question, but I'm sure one of the resident techies in here can...

Howdy, Wingn.

If your engine is propped properly and your boat is clean you should be able to get to the high 20s, maybe even 30mph.

:)

If you check on the hub of the prop, both the diameter and the pitch are usually stamped right on it.

To calculate approx. speed, we'll need engine speed (rpm), prop pitch and gear ratio.

c/6

Hooty

I have an 85HP Force that gets up to about 42, so I guess yours would be high 20's to low 30's

Best judgement is to borrow or purchase a GPS. This will give you the most accurate reading.

Bob

Re: Whats my top speed?

I guess you guys missed Wingn's post, above. He got 29mph.

There are 2 ways to estimate top speed with an ideal prop.

With engine top rpm, lower end gear ratio, prop pitch and an estimate of prop efficiency you can calculate a theoretical top speed.

With boat weight, engine horsepower and boat bottom characteristics you can calculate a theoretical top speed.

If you estimate prop efficiency, or boat weight and bottoms pretty accurately you can get amazingly close. :)
