what is the proper way to set the carbs 60 hp johnny 1989 poor idleing .I have the screws on the carbs turned all the way in right now to get proper number of turns win i start tommorow???
just as a word of advice, I purchased a Clymer manual, and it stated 2 1 /2 turns for mine, it ran like crap, everyone I talked to including on this site, says 1 1 /2 turns........ point being the manual may get ya heading in the right direction, but may cut chort of the finish line...... Im sure a regular around here will help ya out, as this site truly is great.
Hi guys....

This carb has a low speed needle mounted toward the rear on top of the carb. Can't remember right off hand the initial setting, but 2 turns out should get you going.

Get the engine warmed up to temp and start with one carb. The book says, if I recall right, turn the needle something like 1/12 of a turn, if ya can figure what a 12th is, inward and wait 15 secs for adjustment to take effect. Keep going in till motor starts to run erratic and start the other way until the same point is reached. Then turn the needle midway between the two points.

Joe, if you don't have the service manual for this engine, I strongly suggest you get one. It will pay for itself many times over. They are still available for this engine from any Johnny/Rude dealer.

Keep us posted....Thanks.
