I boat small inland lakes so I do have the option to beach the boat with the bow towards the beach. I always use 2 lines regardless of how I beach the boat. I do that to keep that boat in place as I try to keep the keel of the sand. Wonder is that is still beaching???
If I were beaching in a place with big waves or high traffic I would definitely beach with the stern towards the beach.

same here. after seeing TD's picts i think were talking about two different things.
if the wind gets the waves up here and we start taking waves over the swim platform we just move to a shore where we can keep the bow pointed to the wind.

we could easily go in bow forward, but the tide, and wakes would leave us high and dry. also i do want my hull sanded.

I used to pull the bow up on the beach and just let it set. But with tide changes, I was always messing around shoving it out or pulling it in more. Always had to be sure I didn't get it so high I was stuck until the next high tide. Plus there was the grinding action on the beach with sand, shells and stones.

Now I use two anchors, set the boat with stern facing beach in about 2 to 3 feet of water. Easy to walk to, and unaffected by tide. Plus, it also saves the problem of the wind swinging the boat around away from the beach (when just anchored by the bow), making for a long swim out to the boat.

Two anchors are the smart way to anchor your boat in shallow water and know it will be there when you wake up from you nap on the beach.
