Just wandering I was looking for at the head gasket's here at IBoat's store for my 135hp Johnson 1973 and theres a head gasket or a Low commpression heat gasket. Whats the difference in them? I know I got low commpression in the #2 head and was going to replace if the piston looks good when I get into it anyway but didn't know what the difference was in them

You should buy something as critical as a cylinder head gasket from a J/E dealer so you know exactly what you need.

Around 1981-perhaps when the government eliminated lead in the gas, OMC created optional low compression kits. These kits consisted of head gaskets that would lower compression in the engine. Basically they were thicker head gaskets. Lower compression= less horsepower. I never used them.

well got the boat home this evening and took off the cylinder head the #2 piston is shot. So now the next ? is can you just replace one piston or not? Got the manual and it looks like it will be easy to do once you get all the wire's and the flywheel off but don't want to just change one if that's going to cause me more problems

Once you get it torn down the machine shop (marine, not automotive) will measure the cylinders and that will determine how many you bore.
