I've just finished renovating a 1966 13feet Boston Whaler. On the transom I have a new 30hp naturally aspirated Tohatsu two stroke.

I launched for the first time over the weekend and on coming ashore spoke with a guy who has a two month old 25hp naturally aspirated Tohatsu two stroke.
After discussing the merits of Tohatsu I went home and online to the Tohatsu site. I found that the 25hp and 30hp are the exact same engine specification.
So really the question is why the difference in horse power and how do you convert a 25hp to a 30hp, I'm sure one of you guys know

This is the same as my 150 XR-6 and the 200 classic. They have the same carbs, bore and stroke, and displacement. The only difference is the porting and exhaust restrictions...my guess is that it most liely is the same for yours. If not, its probably just a different carb that differentiates the two.

Early model 25 HP motors had a throttle stop to limit power and later models use a restricting gasket to reduce power. There are no carb or timing differences.

Both 25's can be converted into 30 HP in a few minutes at virtually no cost.
