Whats the longest trip you have taken on your boat?

With the use of gps and other items to guide us have you taken a long trip on your boat?
I have seen peoople go to the rigs in the gulf but where are some of the other long trips people take.

Not current boat. We were gone from Nov through March, no GPS. Longest time between ports was about 2.5 weeks.

Farthest trip was about 20 miles offshore, but no oil rigs off the coast of Florida.

Longest trip was an overnighter, but anchored about 5 miles offshore at some shallow shoals.

Relatively speaking, longest trip on my flatbottom was about 6-gallons of gas out and back. Yeah, I broke the 1/3's rule, but I had another couple fishing with us and it was in the river. I got back with barely drop of gas left.:redface:

Now on a charter trip, I went 100 miles off the coast of Alabama to catch yellow-fin tuna. We also caught a 220 lb. Mako.

Last year over Labor Day weekend I ran over 150 miles. We were on the boat from Thursday till Monday. Launched from Fond du Lac and went as far as Nipple Beach on the Wolf River, about 55 miles by water. Check my Google Map link in my sig to see where we've been.

I am trying to schedule a trip from Huntsville, AL to Knoxville, TN. It is about 250 beautiful miles of Tennessee River by boat. There are some state parks and hotels along the way, along with, I believe, 5 locks. I have two issues I cant decide - how many miles I want to cover per day - and how to get back.

Growing up we used to cruise from NJ to Nantucket, no GPS, just paper charts, Eldridge, a compass, timer, & an RDF for fog.

Delivered a new 26' cc from Norwalk, CT to Norwich, CT.
I plotted a course on the chart, but didn't need it (clear day).
Good thing, because I later realized that I plotted the course using True instead of Magnetic.

Newport RI to Seatle WA via panama canal with loran C, back then GPS was called Sat-nav and was too new to use. I build boats and delivered ocean going sailboats to new owners. Delivered boats to all the carribian Islands. One of my co workers took a Shannon to Greece to the owners summer home. That was one trip I really wanted to go on.

From clearwater (Tampa bay area), to Key West.

Ran the coast down to naples, (that was the easy part), then shot straight out into the gulf... about 27 miles offshore...

Was in a 21'5" BR, with just a compass, and missed Key west by quite a bit, and ended up in Key Marathon LOL

In 2000 we went from Sarasota to Key West and back over 9 days in my dad's 27' Chaparral. GPS made it easy to find Marathon when departing Naples!

The next year we went from Daytona Beach to Charleston, SC and back over 9 days, in his 30' Chaparral.

The longest trip in my own actual boat was 150 miles round trip, from Peoria, IL to the Starved Rock Yacht Club, in Ottawa, IL and back over a weekend.
