For what its worth, NADA has my hull listed lighter than my manufacturer says. Not sure which is more accurate. I assume it would be the manufacturer?

Severely under estimating the weights.

All the hull weights are available on NADA.com website. Trailer weights are on the manufacturers websites, like Karavantrailers.com

A typical roller trailer for a 21' boat will weigh 700-750#

Any 90 hp motor or larger will be 300#

A single battery, 50#, fuel 100#.

Don't for get anchors, rode, lines, electronics, controls, tackle, extinguisher, pfd's, cooler.

If you can get that rig. rolling down the road less than 2400, I'd be surprised.

OK Roscoe I was way off on the trailer weight.
?1. I'm assumming this 700LB roller trailer is galvinized steel or regular painted steel?

?2.how much weight can be reduced if converted to a float on bunk type? nevermind I just saw you posted reduction of 100LBs. would the winch have to upgraded w/ a float on winching maybe 4'?

?3. how much of a weight reduction using an aluiamin trailer compaired to steel, both roller or bunk?

so what's going on here? why are you so concerned with a couple hundred lbs of tongue weight? what are you planing on towing with?

Aluminum bunk will get the weight down to 550.

Having shipped literally thousands of each, remember this:
A 13" steel wheel weighs 17 lbs. A 13" tire about 15. There's 30# a side for 60.
A 14" steel wheel weighs 21 lbs, tire gets heavier also to 20. Now we're up to 82 for a single axle
A 15" steel wheel weighs 24 lbs, tire jumps to as much as 26 lbs now we're at 100.
Now add the frame and your trailer even for a 14' tinny boat is a minimum of 250 lbs. Add the jack and a spare for another 50 if so equipped. Fact is, a trailer for a 17'-20' boat is at least 400# with a single axle. So now put your 1500# boat, gas and crap on it and you hit 25-3000lbs in a big hurry.
I use 8-10% as a tongue weght with a LEVEL trailer as my rule.

I'm still planning on this type and size of boat just wanted to make sure it was'nt to much boat for me.
my current tow vehical is a mid sized full frame 3550LB car current 15' boat is around
500LBs. w/ a class one hitch. 200LB tonge 2K gross tow weight.

I will most likely obtain a project MR210 just hull w/out engine so it sounds like my currentl tow veihcal is at limit maxiuim (just to get hull home to start the project).

eventhough this project boat will be on a serious diet (weight reduction) sounds like I will eventualley require a full sized chevy G20-30 Van.

Never ask PLASTIC boaters how light a Aluminum boat can be.

They are pure guessers.

I towed a 16' Lowe Aluminum open fish boat with a 28 hp motor & battery, FILLED with vacation gear, from NJ to upstate NY with wife & daughter BEHIND a shoebox sized 1974 Honda CIVIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Engine SCREAMED all the time for 6 years. No problems.....IF.....I did not have to make a evasive or panic stop.

Some people are good. Others are just damm lucky.

What ever you do.

Take off the Bimini Top. Or at least lower the trailer tounge somehow to get the Bimini top LEVEL. That is a LIFTING WING just itching to lift things at 65 mph & a headon wind gust of 40 mph..............= 105 mph minus turbulance of the tow vehicle.

USE tiedowns always.

Good luck on the van, they are getting awfully hard to find.

Any suv like an S-Blazer would work, or a Trailblazer, Explorer.

the Van will also be a project a older G20-30 Van roller, w/ a LY6 newer LSX series motor w/ 4L80e trans, from a wrecked new van from carparts.com. or a modded LS1 w/4l60e

just not interested in a SUV well maybe a trailblaster w/ the LS2 now that's extremely hard to find
