Have been wanting to upgrade from my current fishing boat for several years. Current boat is a 2001 Lowe FM 165 w/Johnson 50 HP. The boat I'm looking at now is a 2004 Sylvan 180 Viper. This boat is equiped as follows:

150 HP Evinrude Direct Inject
9.9 HP Johnson kicker
Troll Master Pro II remote trolling throttle

Minn Kota Copilot Powerdrive 74 lb trolling motor w/ foot & wrist controls

Lowrance X-102 @ bow
Lowrance LCX-38c HD @ console w/ GPS

Trailmaster Bunk Trailer

Stainless Steel 5 bladed Prop

3 Batteries w/ on-board Minn Kota charger
Downriggers
Bimini Top
Custom Cover

Boat is in great condition and has been well maintained by the original dealer.

Any imput regarding value would be appreciated.

Thanks!

17k-18k CDN$ would be about right in my market. Though it would depend if that 150 is a FICHT or ETEC direct injection motor. The ETEC would be worth a lot more, condition being equal.

Re: What's this boat worth?

Thanks for the input. I have been looking for about 1 year now and have found that used boats are generally less expensive when located 500 to 600 or more miles from here (Colorado).

The research I have done on the Evinrude 150 DI is that it was manufactured by Bombadere and not OMC and that it was a transition model between the Ficht and E-tec. Most imput has been positive about this motor with several Evinrude Service shops telling me to be more concerned about condition, compression and hours than the model. Will have both engines inspected by the original dealer before making an offer. At the moment the owner is asking $17k. I think that is a little rich so need as much input as I can get.

One Ranger Dealer is telling me that there is not much difference between this boat and a same year Ranger Angler except resell value. I looked at this model of Ranger and the floor plans are identicle.

I am meeting the owner at the original dealer location in Denver later this month and have arranged with the service department to perform a complete inspection and evaluation.

So, keep the input coming. At this time of life (retired) I fear making a mistake.

That price does not sound out of line to me. It also sounds like you are doing you due diligence in checking everything out. If the price is in line with other boat prices in your area and it's the boat you want....who's to say it is or isn't a good deal. A good deal is one you are comfortable with paying. Heck look at what this boat would cost new! Good luck with it. We like pictures :)
