What's this thing? Black Bracket

I was pulling the EST Distributor off of my Mercruiser 3.0, SN in signature block, and I dropped my Sharpie in to the Bilge. :facepalm: There, I found this bracket. (See Photos.) The PO had changed the starter along the way, and must have dropped it. I found it and like to reinstall it where ever it goes. Thanks, Moose

That's it! I need to take a look to see where it goes on the engine. I guess it goes against the block and supports the end of the starter?

That it does, but if you have a different type starter than the original, it won't fit.
