Whats up with my pump?

I've always used the screw in "type" hose connector on my Mariner 30, but don't want to wear the thread + I had recent problem with the hose popping off due to wear so decided to put on my old set of muffs, no water at tell tale, thought the muffs have had it, bought a 75 litre bin same again. serviced pump, cleaned water jacket, haven't checked exhaust or thermo, but it would seem to me that the pump is just not working efficiently as it pumps fine on the lake or with the screw in just not on muffs or in a bin. Any thoughts

Re: Whats up with my pump?

To be Honest Nandy I felt a tad bit silly and thought I'd try and keep it to myself but since you asked, to start with the muffs I was using were a bit old and the rubber had gone soft even when I clamped them together I couldn't get enough water out of them, now here comes the silly part when I first put it in the bin I filled it to a little above the screw where the hose connector goes in thinking that should be at the top of the pump, just as I was getting ready to take it into the garage and pull the lu again I thought to myself theres another couple of inches in the bottom of the bin, basically I stuck another brick under the front of the trailer and voila.... hmmmmm problem is this is what the last two weeks has been like for me. I've got to stop partying so hard on the weekends I think its catching up with me.

Re: Whats up with my pump?

I kinda knew I had to be doing something wrong, I'd serviced the pump, flushed the tube with the head off, cleaned out the jacket, didn't do the t'stat or housing but I serviced that a couple of months ago so I was pretty sure there should be no obstructions there. I was getting ready to start pulling my hair out.
Oh well thats what I call a 1 brick job.

No worries Nandy, your spot on, it is a good idea to post your findings, even if they seem silly ya never know someone may benefit from it, it is much easier to fix human error than mechanical failure!
