Whats with my tilt/trim ??

Last yr when i went to take my boat out the tilt/trim didnt work....
Its a 79' mark twain I/O 165 hp

When i push any of the buttons it dosnt repond. Not even the motor humm. But when i push the two buttons to make the outdrive come up into trailer mode it will click. ??

Any ideas? Could it just be the selinoid ?

is it single or twin solenoid setup?

i only see one one the trim pump.

if its clicking you know you have power to the solenoid.

try bridging 12v direct from the battery to the trim motor (either green or blue wire) and see if motor operates

if so its probably the solenoid

but before you order a new one clean all contacts on pump/solenoid and trim 3-button panel

then check for continuity between switch and trim motor wiring harness (after the round plug in socket) right up at the motor connections

if on the other hand the motor doesn't spin when you wire it diectly to 12v then you have options such as brushes in the motor, corrosion/earthing on the armature etc

It only clicks when i push the two buttons at the same time. If i push the down or up buttons by them selfs i get nada, zip, zero, zilch.

But when i get time i will chek all the connections.

I might think that is your problem or possibly a broken or corroded wire.
