It is a form of “Pop Up Ads” that is generating extra ad revenue income for iboats.
It is not a virus.
iboats controls the number of ads appearing, the links' color, placement, and look and feel, the way the ad unit is launched when a user clicks, as well as, competitors? filtering, keyword filtering, etc.
Yes, they are, as with all forms of “Pop Up Ads”, annoying.
What can you do to get rid of them, don't ever click one, and maybe iboats will pull them off. If you click, they (iboats) earns money, and they will most likely stay.
I would not give the company (Kontera Contentlink) any information in the form of a “Opt Out” as was suggested here with the hope it will stop the ads. This information will just go into a data base of “user information” (yours) to be probably sold (data mining) at a future date to advertisers.
