I guess our favorite trip right now is anywhere on the upper chesapeake. Haven't made to many trips yet but we always have a great time while we are out! Catching blue crabs is always a blast too!

The Gulf, now that's one place that I plan on cruising one day. Wouldn?t mind catching one or two of those Redfish; may be when I convince my wife to do the loop staring on the east coast and through the interior us and back...still a few years off yet.​

Freelancer, are you really planning on doing this? It is my dream to do this trip someday! I think my wife is actually warming up to the idea! Altough we are a few decades off from doing it so she may be just letting me dream for now! Either way, I want to do this trip someday, someway, somehow!

I've been reading up on it...the navigation part will take a little planning but I am confident that I can do it no problem. Just like you it's a ways off yet, I'd like to get into some thing like a small trawler by then to do the trip. YEA this is right up there on the top of the bucket list.

I've been reading up on it...the navigation part will take a little planning but I am confident that I can do it no problem. Just like you it's a ways off yet, I'd like to get into some thing like a small trawler by then to do the trip. YEA this is right up there on the top of the bucket list.

I would agree with you! I think that it may be the top thing on my bucket list! Maybe not the first one I do, but the one I want to do the most!

Being that I am only 24 I have quite a few years to wait. I figure it is just more time to plan and prepare. We are on our 2nd bowrider and we enjoy it throughly! Hoping to work my way up in boats, to something that we can start staying out weekends on. (Something with a flybridge would be really nice!) Your boat looks pretty sweet!

Ideally, I would really like a mid 30 to 40 foot trawler boat to do the loop in. My wife is warming up to the idea but I know that the best way for her is to gradually work our way there. Overnight, weekend, long weekend, then a week trip, etc. We are seriously talking about doing a houseboat vacation with my wifes family next summer so that should be good experience as well.

I am currently following several blogs of people doing the great loop right now or who have down it already. A simple google search of "great loop" brings up lots of good info. (I am sure that you have down this by now ) Right now I am just gathering as much info about it as I can!

Maybe some day, when you make another weekend trip into the bay we can meet up and trade stories for a little. I think that it is always fun to meet other people that have the same interest as you do.

Philadelphia Harbor... Hmm, sounds like a fun trip as well. Although it won't happen this year, I just might have to plan a trip like that for next year! That is one of the things that I love about the bay, you can go anywhere!
