Re: Whats your favorite piece of sports equipment?
Guns are sports equipment now? I guess I equate sports equipment with exercise of some sort. Don't get me wrong, I am a gun owner as well.
My Litespeed road bike is my favorite.
Of course. I'm sure you've heard of "Sports Afield" magazine, right? There are others as well. Such magazines have nothing to do with ball games.
Big game hunting hundreds of years ago and in present time was then and is now considered good sport.
There were sportsman in the world long before ballgames like baseball, football, soccer, cricket, etc. or other so-called "sports" were ever invented.
Here's the first definition of sportsman from dictionary.com:
sports?man /ˈspɔrtsmən, ˈspoʊrts-/ Show Spelled[spawrts-muhn, spohrts-]
?noun,plural-men.
1. A man who engages in sports, esp. in some open-air sport, as hunting, fishing, racing, etc.
Edited to add: Hunting can be a tremendous amount of exercise, depending on how it's done. Walking for miles in the woods is but one way... there are some seriously dedicated hunters who climb mountains at very high altitudes and track game for many miles in order to get to a point where they can actually take a shot. Then they have to dress the animal and pack it back out the way they came in. Imagine walking 10 miles uphill all the way, shooting a 1500 pound moose, dressing it out, then packing it back to a base camp. Exercise. Heh.
There are also Olympic sports using guns.
