I would think it might be wiser to do the annual maintenance at the end of the season. Not after it's sat all winter. I check my stuff to make sure there's no water where it shouldn't be and to make sure I have fresh fluids in everything before it gets winterized. No water in it means no rust.
1977 Dilly trailer, Dad bought it new, bearings got repacked the beginning of every season.
We finally had to put a new set in back about 2005.
