I have a 2006 Smokercraft 16ft Stinger w/ 50 Yami 2 stroke. Currently runnig 10 3/8 x13p Yami wheel. 33mph GPS @ 5650revs with 2 people and gear and trimmed up high Motor in 2nd hole. It will blow out in tight turn wiithout dropping trim back. Which I think is normal. I need to find a prop that will compensate for added passengers. Total 4 adults and 120 lb dog. Currently the 13 wheel will not plane the boat 44k revs @ 12 MPH GPS trim doesn't do shyt. I orderd a 10 3/8 x 11 Vortex. Thought about a 4 blade. top end is not a concern. just want to get the boat to plane.

So the Vortex came to the house yesterday, 10 3/8 x11. I put it on the 2006 Yami 2 stroke and took it to the Lake. Now I'm really scratching my noggin. The Vortex replaced a stock 10 3/8 x 13p Yami prop. Results were pretty good. Hole shot was better not great but better. GPS was 35mph 5650 WOT trimmed out. The Vortex seems to bite the water better and hold on in the turns, better yet with slight down trim. Weight load 2 guys 400, full tank of fuel 20 gals, 2 deep cycle 31 series batts. time to plane 4.6sec. water, slight chop, head/cross wind 5 to 8 mph approx. I don't understand how the 2 pitch drop increased top end by 2 mph? I might add that the hub change out was simple on the Vortex. The proof in the pudding will be when I load the family in the ol tub. Which will increase weight by 300 lbs over test run.

Was the stocker cupped which grabs better and at WOT acts like a 1 or so increase in pitch? Did the stocker have a high rake which causes bow lift which gets the hull up and out of the water reducing drag and increasing MPH?

Cupping is the slight bending up of the trailing edge of the blade. Rake is taking the blade that normally exits the barrel straight out and bending it back such that the tip of the blade is aft of the rear of the blade root.
