Wheel hub replacement issue

I replaced a wheel hub for the first time and I think I did it correctly but when I put the bolt on and it seems like it is going to far on. I am tightening it very tight and it almost goes all the way into the hub. The cotter pin is outside of the grooves on the bolt. Is this going to be a problem?

Did you mean to use the wording in red above instead? Is the above what your trying to say?
If yes, do you have the thick washer under the spindle nut?
Also, the spindle nut should not be installed "very tight".
Wrench it down good, kinda "very tight" and then back it off until the hub freely spins around two or three times before coming to a stop.

Did the replacement hub come with new bearings? If not, did the replacement hub have the inner and outer bearing races installed. Washer missing as was pointed out. Possibility of a wrong hub for the spindle (bearing size mismatch)

Spindle nut is adjusted as follows: tighten firmly to seat the bearing races in the hub. Loosen and then tighten finger tight. If cotter pin won't fit in slot, back off nut to the first notch that does allow insertion of the pin.

Yes I did, I do not have a washer on. I am not sure I have one but will look.

Did you notice those instructions do not mention installation of the races into the hub?

All good advice guys. Where can I buy the "Tab Washers" that are mentioned in this article. I have reused mine way too many times. Most trailers I work on just have cotter pins.

FWIW, this is the pic I used to repack my spindles and I think they might have Tab Washers listed on that page too...
