When do I rebuild fuel pump.

I have 4 small OMC's. When I went to clean the fuel filter screen on my 4RDHLET,the gasget crumbled in my fingers; the outside edge still sealed I guess. The other internal parts had a fine yellow-white coating . Anyway, I got a kit and rebuilt the fuel pump.
Is there a recommended time interval to rebuild fuel pumps?

Not that I have ever heard of, Some of them seem to last for years. I suppose alcohol exposure could be a factor.

IMHO:

I think cleaning the carbs and rebuilding fuel pumps every 3rd season or so IS a good (safe) thing. But with the new E10 gas I doubt carbs are going to varnish and gum up that much anymore.
