In my vast experience with windy boating.... I have found that the conditions usually indicate a very bad day when you are in a prone position praying fervently that God will just to allow you to get the boat turned around much less make it back to shore. These types of events are usually accurate with respect to "bad days". I mean b a d.

LF ... it's and anchor line bouy.. attach to the anchor line at a point where reachable from the surface and you're able to unleash - fight a fish - then return to your anchored position or in you and the Mr's case drop and run to return later and reclaim.. much easier/safer than bustin' your gingas in this situation .. more safe for other boaters too.. hangin' up in someone elses anchor line sux arse! ..

you can use a regular rail bumper too .. just add a small inexpensive beener clip to the laniard on the rail bumper and you've got a practical alternative...an empty bleech bottle will do the trick too.

;) :)

My boss uses something similar. Anchor retriever.
You put the bouy ball on the line and motor past the anchor. The ball keeps the line pulling almost straight up and the tug is from the opposite direction the anchor is set. Works like a charm. and real handy when pulling in 500 ft of anchor rope. Once the anchor meets the bouy ball it locks in and all the weight is saved until the very end. I will see if I can find a link to it. And yes, I am always the one up front pulling in the rope. At least I haven't been up there in seas like you are talking about Mr and Mrs LF. I am glad about that.

AK Chappy

AK Chappy

The picture is as AK said, a retriever. BUT it can also be used as a mooring bouy.

Aldo

:) Ak Chappy!!! :)

That's exactly what I use!!! My orange ball approx. 3' in diameter is the best anchor hauler for 300' deep!!! I'm to old to be hauling that anchor by hand from 300'!!! :D Hook that baby up to the anchor line and go about 10 degrees and that baby comes right up!!! and that line is floating and you just bring it in!!! Next best thing to a "windless"!!! When I'm in 300 ' of water I pay out 600-700' of anchor line!!!! Try hauling that by hand!!!! And only about 40 bucks!!!! ;)
