we woke up just in time to be content on the morning bite on the milwaukee river in the middle of downtown, it was freezing but we actually were dressed perfect for the weather, trains blowing their horns cars zooming over all the bridges.....so we are trolling along- the planerboard stoped dead in the water and drag slowly went out, ah man its a snag...about a 2 mins later all other rods were reeled in, and the motor going back to get the lure unstuck, it was still pulling drag! its a fish!! if nothing went wrong we would have caught that bad boy, im thinking it was close to a 17-18 # browntrout, it had to have been. later just a little bit up river i had a fish on, an 18 inch walleye. and then we lost another walleye, then a very small, (one of my smallest ever actually) 24inch brown trout, next we missed 2 crazy acrobatic steelhead and then landed one and missed another. it can be easy to have anything go bad and forget why we fishermen knowingly put ourselves in freezing water and a possible mishap. but when your prepared and you trust yourself and your equipment, theres nothing like a good day where the only thing that went wrong is you lost a big fish. only leaving you wondering whats about due.
