You should have 1 filter per engine. If your running 2 engines through 1 filter your going to have a restriction. Restrictions mean the motors will both run lean. If they run lean enough they will blow.

After you hook both your filters back up. The correct answer is once a year or at the first sign of engine trouble.

Wow. i was thinking a whole a lot different from what you have said..

i was thinking. 1 less Filter means less Restriction..

Well i am going to install another Filter ASAP before i bring the boat to the OCEAN

thanks for the reply.. you probably just save my boat.. SLEEP better at night now

ALSO
-----------------------------------
I have Two Gasoline tank and i have a switch which tank to use.

This is how i should connect the two filter

Connect the Fuel Tank Hose to the First Filter.
Connect the First Filter OUT-Connection to the IN-of the second Filter.

just like that? will there be more restriction because i am using only One main Fuel tank HOSE that needs to provide two Fuel Filter? Please Educate me. because i guest i think Backward.

each engine must have its own dedicated filter.
if you have twin tanks its reccomended to run each engine on a seperate tank.
this prevents,or helps, from contaminating both engines in case of debris or water in a tank.
filters should be changed every fifty hours or 6 months whichever occurs first with todays fine gasolines.
do NOT run the filters in series.

Just curious Rodbolt, is that a yamaha thing? I thought the Merc spec was 1 year or 200 hours? Was there a change I haven't heard about yet?

My Merc spec says 1 year or 100 hours. I'm considering adding an in-line pressure gauge to help in determining restrictions.

Ohh ok.. should using one Main Hose to support two Fuel Filter is a Bad Idea?

so i should just remove the Fuel Switch and use 1 tank per Engine? hmm
