Re: when to throw in the towel (and buy another one
When i bought the rig in feb, i knew the #1 cylinder was low. I figured hey, replace a piston, rings, rebuild carbs etc and i'm good to go. To make a long story short, I end up with a leaker block, so i have that fixed get the block back and one cylinder is out of round. Back to the machine shop (different one). I noticed water in the lower unit oil, so i ended up tearing that apart too. At this point i'll skip the long version on the minor aggravations (brass insert check valves in the powerhead, finding parts (even with twincity outboards) and wife ever so politely asking why its taking so long). Oh, not to forget crankshaft issues....it's going out to Tom on Monday. I just hope the other engine is ok....at least the initial compression test was alright. Don't even get me started on the boat (stringers, non-skid and wiring. Whew! Man that felt good. Maybe i just needed to vent.
