Re: When you bought your boat did you take a test drive before you finalized the deal
over the years I've bought 3 preowned boats .... the first two were back in the '60's and my first boats .... they were bought from a dealer without a test drive .... after purchase, each quickly showed why they were traded in .... the next preowned boat I purchased was a cruiser back in the mid '90's .... I bought it directly from its original owner who gave me copies of all of the service records from a big boat dealer over in Durham .... we did take it for a test run and it performed well .... shortly after we got it, we learned the hard way that the dealership hadn't performed the service they charged the folks for and it took us several hundred dollars to get it right .... as others have noted, taking a test drive isn't a guarantee but it most certainly is a very wise thing to do .... after those experiences, I can't foresee ever buying another preowned boat but having said that, who knows ???
