Computer Scientist by academics, currently monitoring the health of the IT infrastructure of the USDA Forest Service. It's a lot of fun expanding and growing the team's capabilities. For more info lookup "ITIL v3" on Google.

Dan, I figured you were in some sort of computer based industry.

Are you a ITIL practitioner? Certified in ITIL? I personally think it's a great concept and very hard to achieve....I used to work for a software company based out of Utah as a sales engineer. One of the things we covered was Service Desk on top of Asset lifecycle management, Automated workflow, etc. Got laid off earlier this year so currently looking. Other than that just looking for work and working on my boat..

A&P Aircraft mechanic, went truck driving due to burn out and lack of job security. Been a Teamster for 10 years now....8 more years to retirement and then full time boat stuff! (the wife has 20 more years to retirement.....) I own a web publishing & computer repair business on the side. Recovery from surgery last week, on my elbow....and spending 6 hours daily trying to sand & f/glass with one hand. (Oh the pain....wife figures I'm home resting....not in the garage:)

When I am not working on boats I am repairing homes and commercial bldgs.
Started this small business over 30 years ago when I arrived in the beautiful US all the way from Hungary.
I try to find shortcuts and money saving methods to speed up projects all the time.

I was a chemist for 17 years (mostly pesticides and bio-analytical) Now all I do is babysit chemists, troubleshoot chromatography/methods, repair and qualify ~120 instruments called HPLC's GC's and Mass Spectrometers. I was the dude everyone came to with problems. Finally the lab director made my job official. Been 4 years...

HPLC = High Pressure or Performance, Liquid chromatography.
GC = Gas Chromatography.
Chromatography is a process used to separate mixtures, and then detect compounds. Pesticides like DDT, Vitamins, Lipids, Drugs, etc....

I'm a speech/language pathologist. My area of practice is called augmentative communication. Basically, it's using technology to give a voice to those who have lost, or didn't develop, the ability to speak. Anyone heard of Stephen Hawking? Astrophysicist who developed ALS - he now uses a computer to talk. I work with people in similar circumstances - mostly kids, though. I haven't had any pulitzer prize winning astrophysicists on my caseload yet.

I own and operate an HVAC company been in the industry 20 years and we opened our own shop 3 years ago. The economy has had an impact on the heating side of the industry but the Air conditioning side seems to be doing just fine . I find peaple of my generation 42YO and younger will not live without AC :D.

I am an engineer for a defense contractor. I am currently working in Maine building boats for the Navy. Electronics is my specialty. Starting to enjoy the boat restore hobby though thinking about trying to do a little work out of my garage after I complete the Glastron.
