Just to help out a little, if you want to add a bilge pump (I can't think of why you wouldn't want on), a float switch and a 3-position toggle is a must. Get the toggle with the built in light in it, so if your pump comes on and the engine is running (you'll never hear the pump), you'll see the light in the switch activate and you can hunt down the problem.
The switch positions should be 'manual', which turns the pump on immediately, and 'auto', which activates the pump by the float alone. The 'off' position will still allow the pump to kick on via the float. Wire the pump with a constant 12v hot source so it always has power. Here is the proper wiring diagram:
