where are the serial numbers on a 70hp vro?

where are the serial numbers on a 70 vro. I just got a pontoon and i can only find these numbers on my engine 89km2 186334. it runs good at 1/2 to full throttle but will barely idle and stay running at slow speeds. i think i need to build the carbs but i need to know what i have first.

There should be a tag about 1"x2" or so on the transom bracket, but if it's gone then you need to find a welch plug on the top of the motor. It'll be a quarter size piece of metal on top of the block somewhere. I have a 1993 60hp 3cyl. and mine is on the same side as the control cables and all the electrical stuff, but it's on top of the block, offset a bit but between the flywheel and the head. if you do find it, you will need to contact a dealer since they are the only ones who can cross reference the serial #.
