I need detailed drawings for my 75 40hp rude. I have the online version of the seloc manual but I dont find the pictures i want. I want to replace the impellor but I don't know how to get the lower unit off. I unscrewed the six bolts, but aparently that isn't enough. i know there is a shift rod screw I need to undo but is that all ther is to it. I hesitated taking the shift rod screw out until I had found all other connecting points. With those six bolts out, I hit the cavitation plate with a rubber mallat, but that didn't seem to make the lower unit move at all. Surely, that shift rod wasn't the only thing holding the lower unit on was it.

if you will google johnson outboard history it will take you to a web page that has exploded and very detailed pictures, it won't tell you how, but you can figure it out.

yes the shift rod is the only thing holding if it has dropped down an inch or two, stop hitting it before you bend the shift rod! Go to evinrude. com and click literature and go to drawings, service, or parts or something like that.

Six bolts??? That isn't enough. There is the big one at the rear. Here's the BRP parts catalog website. copy and paste without the quotation (") marks:
