Where do I find the model #?

Greetings,

I just purchased a 1988 Cobalt from my local dealer and I couldn't be happier. This being my first boat and all, I would have to say that she's a real gem. One thing that puzzles me though is the model that I have. On the paperwork that I received there are two models listed. One is 175BR and the other is 192 Condurre. I've been able to find info for the 192 Condurre but nothing about 175BR. Did the dealer list it as a 175BR for tax purposes? Is there a manual or website I can look up 1988 models? Any help is much appreciated.~Milt

I'm guessing te 175 br is the HP of the motor??.. The 192 I believe is the style of the boat that usually references the length (sometimes) Exaample= mine is an Aquasport 200...wich is a 20FT boat...

I would look at the engine and see if there is any indication of HP and if it matches the 175 in 175BR then I think you will have your answer..

Now that you mention it, there is a green decal on the carb that says 175. I think that's where the dealer got that info. Now it all makes sense. Thanks for the reply and the compliment

There IS a place you can find almost all you want to know about your Cobalt, and luckily enough it is on the Cobalt boat sit,e.

Now I don't see a 192 Condurre listed for that year. The smallest they had that year was a Condurre 202.
Are you sure it is a 1988?
It does list a Condurre 192 for 1989. You can check this by the HIN. Hull Identification Number. You will find it embossed into the hull on the upper starboard outside of the transom. The last 2 digits of the HIN identify the year.

I was looking at the HIN and the last two digits end in 88. Could it be possible that Cobalt decided to put a fiberglass swim platform instead of a teak one? It kind of looks like the Condurre 202 but the swim platform is different. I got to looking in the 1989 brochure and sure enought there she was! I OWN a 1989 Cobalt 192 Condurre. What a relief! I don't know why the HIN ends in 88 and she's listed in the 89 catalog. Maybe she was introduced late in 1988? Either way, the mystery has been solved. Thanks James
