Where do I mount smart tabs SX?? HELP PLEASE!

OK I need help as to where to mount these. I have call and e-mailed Nauticus, but with no avail. I need your help guys. Do I mount it like they say 3-5 inches from the outside of the boat just about the cut out in my hull or do I move it over 9 inches or so and mount it on the flat bottom part of the hull right were the tie down is at?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Here is my hull:

I don't have the answer for you , but maybe a solution.... email that pic to the manufacturer of the tabs...see what they say....

P.S. is that a WallyWorld cover ??? Sure looks like mine ! ...lol

Yes same cover. They work pretty well, but I would sure like a custom one in the near future. I e-mailed them the pic, but no answer and I am getting ancy....LOL!!

go to the website and look at the instructions thay are gonna hurt you if thay are in the wrong spot i mounted mine from the instructions thay came with. thay worked good on my last boat,ill get regular tabs for my current boat

I did go to the website to look at intall pics (I already read the instructions about 30 times as I have had them here waiting for a responce), but no one has the same hull as mine. I was hoping I would hear something from them, but nothing. Hopefully in the next few days I will hear something....

I was surprised at my cover...it really does keep the water out...not to mention leaves....my custom cover is on the list....wayyyyyy down at the bottom of it...lol... ( "Breaking Wind" has not been on the water since 1997)

Yeah I feel the same way. The cover kept all the water out I was really happy with it. I just put a tower on it so this one will not work, bummer!!

They say to mount them as far to the port and starboard as possible, so with that said, I would use the blue line. Don't wait for them to answer your e-mail as they are a little lax in that department, but call them. Greg or John have been great to work with on my problems.

I need to buy a large beachball to put under my cover up where the cabin and rails are to shed the water...thats the only place she gets a puddle...but when I bail that puddle out...I have checked underneath , and it has always been bone dry.... not a bad cover for $65.00

It seems to me the further outboard they are , the more effect they would have. Things might get tipsy the further inboard you go with them....

I thought about that as well, but was wondering if the surface will be too small once I am up to speed as that cut out on my hull is only about 3 inches or so??

Thanks, but mine is not flat as shown in the pic (unless I come in a few inches). Have you had a chance to try yours out yet with the tabs?? I would also need to mount them in about that distance and am wondering how it handles??

Since I have a slightly heavier boat with a V-8, I bought the 80# tabs and mounted them at the end of the last boating season. I took the boat out once last year with the tabs in the mid position.

They really worked well to control the amount of porpoising and bow rise on acceleration. The improvement in slow speed (idle) handling was worth the price of admission all by itself.

However, it did seem like the tabs slowed my WOT speed down by about 2 mph on GPS (54 vs 56 mph.) I boat in salwater so the tides affect speeds by 2-4 mph . In other words, its hard to know what your actual speed is even with a GPS. I guess I could come to a stop and measure my drift speed and then add or subtract that from my "total" speed but I digress .

Since I was thinking that maybe I should've purchased the 60# tabs, I moved my tabs from the mid position (3) to the lightest position (1.) Top speed really didn't seem to improve but the porpoising is worse than the mid position. Still not near as bad as pre-Smart Tabs, though.

Today, I moved the tabs to position #2. Unfortunately, work will preclude me from trying them out for about two weeks.

Overall, I'm very happy with the Smart Tabs and highly recommend them.

Thanks for the update and info. I look forward to mounting them. My main purpose for purchasing them was for the bow rise when wakeboarding or even taking off. I don't really mind it, but the wife hates it. We had a Ski Nautique and that was great with no bow rise, but rough water made it a disaster. You win some you lose some. I like the boat I have now, but if it can help with bow rise it is worth every dime. Top speed is not a big deal, but that is why I am waiting to see where the perfect spot is to mount them before I drill any holes. I don't want to compromise performance, bow rise or speed in any way shape or form.

Give us an update on position #2 if you remember.....

I'd put them in the red position personally. Over a chine is fine. Realyl I don't think either place would be a problem.

First of all let me apologize for not keeping up with the email requesting installation assistance. We are running at a rate of about 300 per day, and in combination with the 100 or so phone calls it is overwhelming. Some people are complaining that we do not answer the phone. What happens is that all the lines are busy at the same time. But we are trying.

Anyway, move the tie down straps so that they attach to the trailer frame directly below the "D" ring on the boat. This clears the area directly above the trailer bunk to mount the tabs. You can pick up an "L" bracket at West Marine or even Home Depot to bolt to the trailer in order to accommodate the strap hook.

Nice install job! I bet they work fine. You couldn't have put them any further out and have the rams on the transom properly like you do. Looks good!
