Re: where do old boats go?
Sadly, a lot of them sit for years and years. Someone gets fed up with it and they either get parted and crushed, crushed altogether, or they try and sell them.
I remember back a few years, I was looking around a local Marina. The Marina had a good dozen or so wood boats out behind the buildings. Everything from 16' runabouts to a bunch of mid 30'+ Chris Crafts, Trojans and even a 40' Pacemaker Aft Cabin. The boats had been neglected and left for dead. Some had the running gear gone, some looked complete top to bottom. I saw these posted in an add for saving old wood boats at one point. A couple of years later, on a return trip when looking for the boat I got now, I peaked around back and all the wood boats were gone.
My Marina used to cut them up and bury them, or send them to the scrap yard. My guess would be these boats suffered the same fate. Only a few wood boats remain on our marina property, one or two see the water, and a couple are either lined up, or waiting for scrap.
