I have have a mercruiser 470 and the battery terminal wires (pos/neg)were
disconnected from the motor and I was wondering if anybody knows where they connect/screw into or possibly has a picture. I have a manual but it is not very specific of where they actually go to. Thanks

Depends on the type starter you have.
Either one or none could go to the starter, but for sure the negative NEVER will.

Does your starter have a start solenoid mounted on it or not?

Here's the wiring diagram for your engine. Your battery cable hooks to the solenoid under the exhaust manifold.
From the drawing, it shows the negative cable going to the back of the starter (I will have a large serving of humble pie please for my NEVER comment above)
But, the negative cable is normally hooked to the block on newer models under one of the bolts/studs holding the flywheel cover to the engine block.

Here's where I've got them from what I've gathered so far.... not sure this is correct.... please correct me if its not. Also in the picture of the red positive cable I'm not sure where that black(looks like some ground wire to me) goes. Thank-you for your help Don and everybody else!

Did you click on the attached file icon in my last post? Not sure why there isn't a picture there, but if you click it, there is a wiring diagram in it.

Not sure which red wire you are referring to, but in the picture below, is B the red wire you are referring to? It could be red or black, hard to tell without being able to see the other end. If it actually is a red wire, DO NOT hook it there. It belongs on the starter solenoid. The wire I have marked A, if it is a ground (again, I can't see the whole wire or where it hooks, it belongs under the ground bolt.
