When I'm done or near done for the season I put sta-bil in. I do this in the boat, off road vehicles, quads..anything that will sit idle. Never had a problem.

It sounds odd to put gas on 'fire' ants..:D

I have heard some horror stories about ethanol when it breaks down. Not sure if it's true or not. I even heard that sta-bil won't even save it. What do you guys run for gas in your boats? Is ethanol in all grades of fuel? We don't have ethanol in our gas, yet.

Depends on where you live. Most of the US states have a minimum of 10% ethanol blended with all pump gas, unless it's clearly marked as non-oxygenated, in which case you are not supposed to run in on the highways.

I don't take chances with ethanol in my boat or small engines. They're old enough that they weren't built for it. Ethanol is easy to avoid. There are plenty of stations and marinas that sell ethanol free gas in all grades. Many people claim they run it with additives but I don't see the point of spending extra money and trouble on additives instead of just avoiding it in the first place.

At least here in MN, the non-oxy is usually .50 to $1.00 more than the ethano blend but well worth it, and still cheaper and a safer bet than additives.l
