I am replacing my 1989 225 powerhead with a 1992 powerhead and everything lines up good except the 1992 has a extra hose barb(yellow circle in picture) Does anyone know where this goes? Thanks

Re: Where does this go

It looks like a recirculation hose barb. Or an excess fuel drain from the airbox, probably different systems.
Exactly where is it located, the bottom of the case?

It would help to know what area of the powerhead we are looking at and what position the powerhead is in. I almost looks like it's on an engine stand.

Yes, it is the bottom front of the engine, the large bright shiny blob is the connector for the shift shaft. You can also see the shift switch on the left side of the picture.

I think 'ol jonesg hit the nail...it is a recirc fitting that goes to the air silencer.

I will go to the shop tomorrow, and look on my engine to be exactly sure. Will post back ASAP.

It is the bottom, I have it bolted to an engine stand. The recirc barb is above to the left the pulse limiter is to the right. This does not exist on the 1989 block. Thanks

Its probably for draining the airbox, fuel pours out the carbs when the engine is tilted, this might be to recycle the excess fuel into the crankcase.
Hook it up , see what shakes.:D

Ok, went to look today, and it does connect to the air silencer.
The hose is about 24" long, connecting to the nipple you picture, and it routes to the port side of the engine, up behind the intake and port carbs, exiting sort of in front of the starter, and then into a hole next to the #1 carb position in the air silencer.
There is no fitting, it just goes into a hole.....and lays there.

This is on a 1996 200 looper. I know your air silencer will be different.

I hope this helps.
