Where does water come out of TN26 5hp

There is a hole in an elbow just below the power head and water comes out there, but not the two exhaust holes. Is this normal? The impeller is worn but not bad either. Thanks. Bob

Water coming out at that elbow is normal. That is the tell-tale on that old motor. Those motors are just later streamlined versions of late 1930's motors. The casing on the lower midsection seemed to be there just for style, until they filled it on the TN with the neutral mechanism and relocated the water pump there. The Johnson T-series motors through 1940 just had a tube for a midsection that housed the driveshaft, water tube and exhaust. They flared it out for 1941.

The picture below shows a TN-27 discharging water from the spot you asked about.

Yes, that's where is coming out and the hole looks like it was meant to be there. I could plug it with epoxy if necessary.
