With the rig in the water, of course the water is at the proper level.
On a flushette, on that model, the flushette can work itself off when the water is full "ON" but I'm sure you're aware of that.
In a tank... a large plastic trash can is my choice... the water must be 3" or 4" above the actual water pump as the pump IS NOT self priming.
Sons do things like that... and we forgive them. When mine was very young, the year being about 1972, and many small boats had a rubber cap push button on the dash to start the engine... and I had just installed a new water pump assy on one and it was waiting in my driveway for the owner, my son (5 years old at the time) climbed in the rig and pushed that button (sigh). One of the blessings of being a father?
