Mine currently is Youghiogheny Lake on the border between Pennsylvania and Maryland.

I grew up going there and now go just about every weekend.

Mio Michigan, 3 hours from home and light years different in terms of amenities. Lakes and rivers in every direction, acres and acres of state land and best of all the place where I stay is free, friends family property. Try to go once a month from May until November. Absolutely serene.

As far as camping Santee State Park on Santee Cooper. However I rarely go camping living 15 min from the lake. We do camp other places just not for boating.

Savant Lake, Ont., Canada

You can get a lot of info on it at:

www.wildewoodflyin.com

Not hard to catch 60 or 70 walleye in 4 or 5 hrs. I get sick of taking them off the line. You have to fly-in, but that's what keeps the fishing good. You can go out all day and not see another boat on the lake. There are really only 3 places on the lake to stay, I can't tell you where I stay because the elderly lady that runs the camp might get swamped with requests, and I wouldn't want that. lol She's much cheaper than the place with the website.

THE best fishing I've ever had in my life!!!

Oh, if you do go, get a GPS, LOTS islands! Every year I go somebody gets at least a little lost. And there's nowhere to go except one of the deserted islands if you do get lost and have to spend a night on the lake!

You can't beat boating and camping on Lake McConaughy in Ogalala, NE. This manmade lake has beach sand around 60% of the shoreline that is around 200 -300 yards wide, depending on time of year and drought....and has some big Wipers, Striped bass, Catfish, Walleye, smallmouths, and crappie. You can camp your trailer, motorhome, tent, or just a sleeping bag right there on the beach in most spots for no fee, and they also have campgrounds with all amenities needed for a small fee. Talk about a place that is made out of Heaven. Lake McConaughy, NE. LIVE OUTLOUD. :)

My favorite is Lake Of The Woods, Northwest Angle of Minnesota.

I stay at a fishing resort, but there is camping at Young's Bay Resort.

I believe it is the best fishing you can drive to on the planet. :)

a great place to camp and boat is "Wellsley
Island" state park in the thousand islands
on the St. Lawrence river. plenty of non-fishing
stuff for the wife and kids, clean well kept
campgrounds and facilities, and great fishing!
a 16 yr. old kid caught a 44lb. northern last
week a little bit south in Clayton off a dock.
TONS of perch for the kids to catch too. my 11yr
old daughter caught 25 perch in about 2 hours.
also holds the record for tiger muskie (69lb)
if your not into tent camping, they have cabins
for rent also, although a bit pricey....

i like TRAP POND STATE PARK down 'slower' delaware.. it's real close to the pond i growed up on as a kid.. there's 15 ponds i a 5 mile ring.. it's a good camp , big shade trees, big lots, & great showers.. plus the ocean is 35 miles away, OCEAN CITY , MARYLAND..big long action packed boardwalk.. plenty of sights.. ( sore neck everytime )
also like to camp at nearby ASSATEAGUE ISLAND NATI0NAL SEASHORE.. it's the best ' in-&-out-of-the-water-beach ' around.. 30 miles long.. safe , no undertow, alsome waves.. love to booggee board all day long.. by-the-way-i'm 48..i get sore but it's a good sore.. an walk the beach lookin' for shells..they have great primitive campin' rite on the beach..

ASSATEAGUE is famose for the ' wild ponies' .. been there stranded since the 1600's.. they come rite thru your camp , lookin' for food.. it's pretty wild..

i also like to camp on ORDINARY POINT on the sassafrass river on the cheasapeake bay.. it's a long sandy narrow arm that sticks out with sandy beach.. ya beach or anchor off & pitch a tent.. it's great place for swimmin' , wadin' ,an of coarse , fishin'..no fee ya just do it.!!

Hey Mike,

I get to Florida occasionally. Great boat camping down that way.

Look into the campground/marina at Bahia Honda.
http://www.bahiahondapark.com/
The campground is often booked a year in advance, but slips (actually, you tie to a seawall in a very protected cove) are generally available.

Also Pennekamp State Park on Key Largo.
http://www.pennekamp.com/

I'd be happy to send you a log entry of one of my trips there.

Re: Where is your favorite boating/camping spot?

Nick, I am interested in all information I can get.
Actually we just came home yesterday after a extended weekend in Key Largo. We stayed at AMERICA OUTDOORS which was an awesome campground. We went out from the Pennekamp park to molasses reef (might be misspelled)snorkeling and also out at the "other side". The Ranger called "the other side" for Everglades National park, when he gave me the ticket  :(  . Well we are learning every day, arent we :)
I think we saw the Bahia Honda park. Saturday we took a trip to Key West and we kept an eye on places to stay next time. On the way back to Key Largo we noticed this nice place, when we crossed a bridge. It was to the right side of the bridge and looked really good from what what we could see.

Regards
Mike
