where should the motor sit on the boat

I'm trying to figure something out, With the motor in the lowest position where should the fin be in respect to the bottom of the transom. <br />even, an inch above, or an inch below?

I typically put my outboards in the back, usually mounted to the transom.

I've got a long shaft on a shoft shaft boat. What are you downsides/advantages of this set-up.<br /><br />Is it damaging the boat/motor at all?<br /><br />I've heard that the motor's anti-cavitation plate should be parallel with the bottom of the boat?

It's not hurting anything but your top speed. <br /><br />I've heard the same thing about the cav plate.
