I need a 7.7 x 8 pitch propeller. Where can I buy it online that has it in stock? The Tohatsu replacement parts people told me it is out of stock for another month and i realized they are not factory direct. I want the FACTORY propeller, not after market, been there done that. Want to get it ASAP.

The prop you seek, 3R1B645161 PROP 4/5/6HP (7.7 DIA. x 8 PITCH) $64.98, is on National Backorder. In other words, Tohatsu America is out of stock for that item, and is waiting for one to come in from Japan, so no dealer can get their hands on one from the national parts distribution center at the moment.

If you need one in a hurry, I would suggest contacting a few dealers to see if they have one on the shelf.

As an alternative, the 7-pitch prop, 3R1B645140 PROP 4/5/6HP (7.7 DIA. x 7 PITCH) $64.98, is available. I can have one for you as soon as Wednesday.

What boat are you using it on? If it's on the heavier side, I would prefer the 7 pitch anyway.

Re: Where to buy 6 hp tohatsu prop

Its called tohatsuoutboardparts.com i think............

i wish tohatsu just sold it on there site from japan.

and I have a 13' gheenoe highsider, 6hp, jackplate, usual load is near 500.

I want to max out the speed, And I converted this motor from 4hp to a 6hp so i have a 7 pitch on there now. I feel like having the 8 which is what the 6hp should have would max me out. I run 100% wide open on plane majority of the time.

I cruise at about 12-14mph right now depending on the conditions

Oh, they are just one of 975 dealers in the U.S. Like all outboard manufacturers, Tohatsu only sells through an authorized dealer network. You can also get Tohatsu original equipment parts and propellers through any Mercury dealer. The Mercury 30 hp and down are Tohatsu's with a different decal.

Didn't know you could make a 6 hp out of a 4hp? Thought you could only go up to 5 hp?

FWIW, I have a 90's 5 hp Tohatsu and with a 8 pitch prop, it will push my 17' Old Town DS 17 square stern into the upper teens when she's trimmed right. ( Read; as fast as I dare to go in a canoe!).

Also FWIW, I would caution on going to high a pitch in search of speed on a boat your size. You could very easily end up going too fast at idle speed. Makes comeing into landings /approaching fishing spots a PITA.

Lastly, I found motor angle and trim of the boat ws CRITICAL to best speed /efficiency.

I think the 8 will be fine, its what comes stock on the 6hp

yes, 4-5-6 all the same exact motor, diff carbs.

I trim it all the way down to the last pin because i have it on a jackplate about 2" lifted and 4" back. I've had this setup for 3 years so i've done a lot of tweaking. I just need a new prop anyway mine has been chewed up by oysters.

I have a 9 pitch too, works terrible. Blows out a lot because of the jackplate plus my load is too heavy. I care about hole shot and planing level as much as speed.
