Start the email to that seller now. Maybe by lunch you can have a tentative deal in place. It's worth the drive to Richmond for a good looking over. And be prepared to walk away if the seller won't deal on price if the motor doesn't run or there are other concerns w/ it's overall condition.

But even as a wreck, w/ a motor that doesn't run, someone will pay the $600 fairly quickly, so don't wait to contact the seller if you're interested..... SC's don't last long, even in this neck of the woods.

BTW: I got mine from outside Colonial Heights..... Supposedly was a runner, but lesson learned :facepalm:

No problem.:) I have an unusual talent for sniffing these things out.:D I set out this spring in search of a 22' Islander,but wound up finding the 25' Cheiftain in my avatar instead 3 miles from my home and for cheaper than the Islanders I was finding. Even if that outboard don't work, appropriate sized ones for that boat pop up all the time on c-list.;)

Yah, no doubt. That is a sharp looking hull and seems in very good condition. The trailer looks great too. Drive away for $450, sell the running motor for, oooh idunno, $300 maybe. Great boat, great trailer, 150 bux!

If you're going to own and restore an old boat you need to learn how to work on all of it, including the motor. Older boats and motors will need more repairs because... they're old.

Take that deal for whatever you can get it for, $600 or less... it's a good deal with or without the motor.

Still waiting for replies! I would probably sell the outboard if it didnt work and get a newer one. I plan on doing everything myself. Im not very good with engines but have a neighbor that is so will ask him for help!

If you're really serious about owning a boat and learning about working on them then you should do whatever it takes to purchase that boat. It is the perfect "Starter" boat. You will learn a lot and have a great boat when you are done.

Good luck with purchasing that starcraft & johnson setup. If you do end up with it don't be in a hurry to sell that old outboard, it won't be efficient or quiet but it is very simple, easy to work on, you can still find parts, and they are reliable. When the apocolypse comes there will be cockroaches, lawyers and old (as in 1950's & 60's) johnson/evinrude/sea kings still kicking.

Thank you! I won't sell it immediately. Can I connect a hose to the outboard to see if it runs?

I think you owe someone a finders fee on that one;) Great starter boat, looks like everything is there which is always a plus.

I think the finder's fee is rolled in w/ the 1st year's Starmada dues. Is CBK still fronting the 1st year's dues?

Paying it forward & all :eek:

I mean it isn't an $80 Falcon or a $250 SS, now is it... :facepalm:

Maybe IM should kick in on the 2nd year dues :)
