I'm NOT 100% sure but almost, you cannot run a 67' Johnson on "Muffs". It has to be run in a tank. Make sure and verify this if you get this rig.

You are right, I used to have the exact same engine. A big trash can works best.

I think that easily beats the free aluminum sled with a steering wheel I posted! Ha. Good luck!

Nice. Who posts on Craigslist and then leaves town? Although, I think I may have accidentally done that once...

Re: Where to find a boat I can restore?

In Pittsburgh

$700 OBO

And while you're looking for a boat you do want, don't be afraid to go & look at other boats like this one. It's too far for me to consider going for a look, esp if the trailer needs work. But, if you find something like this, act quick because they often go quick. Odds & ends off the boat: trim, steering components, windshield, rubrail, gas tanks, etc, possibly a serviceable trailer, and perhaps a motor either to sell or use when you do find a boat.......

For $75.

If there's no titles, you need to figure out how to register & title them in Virginia. That is no longer a concern for me, as long as I feel that the seller is the rightful owner. Then it's a $30-50 ding for trailer, and if I want to sell the boat after I strip it, it's another $60-70 to get it titled & registered to me. Else it's $30-50 at the dump to dispose of it.

So all in, I'd be @ $170-200. When I go to look at it, I'd have to assess if I think there's more value then that in the boat, motor, and trailer. And how much time & effort it's going to take to make that money back, hopefully more then that back.

But if the trailer is serviceable, & the motor runs, or can be made running inexpensively, you are now looking for just a boat hull. Maybe 1 w/ a trailer (or motor) in worse shape then the $75 one above. That then opens all those hull only ads, so you now have more options will shopping for the boat. You can make reasonable offers (seller may not agree) and be better able to walk away, because you've already gotten 1 of the major (and expensive) parts handled: the motor. And you can be working on the motor & trailer while you are still shopping for a hull. Just need to be able to get the boat loaded & towed.

The boat is a little far but I understand what your saying. I was hoping to be able to get 1 boat as I only have room to store one boat.
