The cast numbers are:

14034-1
14035-1

Iboats has sierra cylinders but are 350 bucks each!!! Anyone have a cheaper source...sorry iboats.

The Starboard cylinder leaks (the rod is very oily when cycled). I bought the seal kit. Attempted to loosen the cap with no success. I tried heating it with a hair dryer for an hour with no success. I'm leaning on purchasing new if I can't get it to budge.

thanks!!

If you dont have a spanner wrench, I understand a Pipe wrench and vice will do the trick. In our area there is a used boat junkyard , they have used appha cylinders by the wheelbarrow. Do you have anything like that?

No don't have the spanner wrench. I'm using an adjustable wrench while the other end is still attached to the boat.

Checkout SEI - they sell cylinders for $120.

Just bring it to a marine shop or even an auto shop and ask them to open it for you.. Give em $20 for the help.

Check out iboats right here. They are advertising SEI drives, well, SEI makes trim cylinders too. And they charge a lot less than $350.

But seriously, you just need penetrating oil, a vise and a pipe wrench.

Also, if you are going to be anywhere near Lakeland/Winter Haven, my dad has the spanner wrench. He'd get them open for you.

I tried the pipe wrench a little while ago. That sucker is NOT coming off. The The teeth on the wrench are leaving nice deep gouges on the cap. I'll try WD40 heat and pipe wrench tomorrow. If that doesn't do it, then I'll order two new cylinders from SEI. Check them out today.... I'll order the drive and both cylinders at the same time.

I have withdrawels again. We need to get back on the water.

I just put the cap in the vise and a bar through the bushing area at the top and turn. Never once had a problem with any of them that I have serviced.

I guess it was too cold last night cause this afternoon, I got it off. Left the hair drier on it for about 2 hours and tried again with pipe wrench and voila (sp?), off it went. It's nice when I can fix my own stuff. now off to replace the seals.

Thanks for the tips!!

240 bucks less I have to spend..

Resealed the trim cylinder a about an hour with my 9 year old son.

Saved 120 (SEI), Parts = 20 bucks, Son and I fixing it = PRICELESS!

Now I'll paint it with rustoleum tomorrow.
