I'm looking for replacment control cables for a 1960 60hp Flying Scot McCulloch. Does anyone know where I might find some, or if I could potentially use another brand of cable?

Re: where to find control cables

I am reasonably sure (but not 100%) Scott used a control built by Morse, using the popular 33C cable. Morse was bought out by Teleflex a few years ago, and the 33C is now a Teleflex 3300 (I think, but please verify that). The 33C has #10-32 threaded ends. Anyhow, iboats sells Teleflex cables. Check it out

EDIT: Looks like Uflex is a better deal than Morse/Teleflex. Is this your cable ?

Re: where to find control cables

UPDATE:

F_R got my new cable in the mail today. The ends on the C2 are definitely threaded just like the old cable (same #10-32 thread), but the cable-covering end (collar?) is not threaded like on the old cable, so I am not sure if the are the same, or if I have to do some modification to them. I attached a picture to show what I am talking about. I looked through all the other brand of cables and I don't see any that have the threaded collar. I wonder if I can modify this cable to work?

Hoo-boy, that does make it complicated, doesn't it? I wonder if it might be easier to fabricate a special adapter to fasten the C2 to the Scott?

I think you may be able to fabricate a mount with a clamp on the end.
If the housing isn't tapered maybe you can just thread it for 2 nuts.

Steelespike, i was just looking at it and thinking about threading the brass. I might be able to do that. I will definately try.
