Where to find oversized Evinrude jets?

In cruising this board, I found suggestions to install Boyesen reeds from Dhadley and Forktail, among others. Since I'm in the carbs anyway, I figured they were worth the $60.

Now I'm stuck trying to find oversized jets! Two local marinas, one of which is an Evinrude dealer, say they can't do anything without a part number.

The low speed is a 46 and Boyesen recommends +.002 making it a 48. It figures out to a 11.5% enriched mix.

Is there a source on the web?

1984 60hp Evinrude E60TLCRE on a 14' McKeeCraft

The Evinrude dealer has the numbers. They are listed in the front of every OMC service manual. They are listed by size and give the coresponding part number. The idle jets start with blanks then go to 16 (if I remember correctly), then 19 and then every number.

Good luck!

Jim.... The .048 slow speed jet with 8-32 threads is part number 326500 and would have a list price of about $5.00.

You could very easily make that conversion or adjustment yourself with a .048 drill bit and bit holder (usually called a pin vise), the kind you can twirl with your hand, available at Sears, hobby shops, etc.

Re: Where to find oversized Evinrude jets?

Thanks, guys. I just missed closing at the nearest shop. It's a Tuesday thing.

Turns out the 'parts expert' was off at a wedding.

I'm reluctant to drill the existing jets; it's still running rich, as evidenced by wet plugs. I may go back to the 46. I can't remember any sputters or backfires with the current setup.

I was almost fooled by the instructions at Boyesen. I looked at the idle jet decrease of 0.005 instead of the low speed jet increase of 0.002.

Again, thanks to Dhadley and Joe Reeves!

jim
